Nike’s New Olympic Suit For Sprinters
That’s it, I’m dimpling everything from now on. I’ll even wear this when I go get my groceries.
Members of the American Olympic athletics team will have a technical advantage over their fastest rivals.
Thanks to a high-tech running suit that takes inspiration from a golf ball.
Nike - who sponsor the U.S. team - have unveiled the TurboSpeed suit, which they claim can knock 0.23 seconds off a 100 metre sprint.
The time may not sound much by your ordinary jogger’s standards but when it comes to the fastest race in the world, every millisecond counts.
Take U.S. sprinter Walter Dix’s time in the 100 meter sprint at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, for example.
The bronze medal winner lost out to world champion Jamaican Usain Bolt by a mere 0.22 seconds.

3.2 Billion Pixel Camera With Over 189 Sensors
Hey pixel peepers, peep this!
Even though it’s for space use, it’s fascinating to see what’s going on in the world of image capture.
A 3.2 billion-pixel digital camera designed by SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory is now one step closer to reality. The Large Synoptic Survey Telescope camera, which will capture the widest, fastest and deepest view of the night sky ever observed, has received “Critical Decision 1” approval by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) to move into the next stage of the project.
The Large Synoptic Survey Telescope (LSST) will survey the entire visible sky every week, creating an unprecedented public archive of data – about 6 million gigabytes per year, the equivalent of shooting roughly 800,000 images with a regular eight-megapixel digital camera every night, but of much higher quality and scientific value. Its deep and frequent cosmic vistas will help answer critical questions about the nature of dark energy and dark matter and aid studies of near-Earth asteroids, Kuiper belt objects, the structure of our galaxy and many other areas of astronomy and fundamental physics.
With 189 sensors and over 3 tons of components that have to be packed into an extremely tight space, you can imagine this is a very complex instrument,” said Nadine Kurita, the project manager for the LSST camera at SLAC. “But given the enormous challenges required to provide such a comprehensive view of the universe, it’s been an incredible opportunity to design something so unique.”

The New Google Drive: The Dropbox Alternative
Google is slowly taking over my life, first it started with their search, which is the best in the world (sorry Yahoo!), next my e-mail went directly with gmail, then google calendar started to organize my schedule. I then started implementing google docs to send and share online notes and details. Finally with Android, everything syncs together right on my Phone. Now Google is stepping in the file sharing arena, competing with companies like Dropbox.
It’s 5 gigs of free storage to start off with. If you’re familiar with google docs, your docs tab will change to ‘drive’ where you can now upload anything you want and share as you please. Now if only it had a public uploader so people can send files to me like yousendit allows, then I would switch over for sure.

Siemens Smart Stove Lets You Place Pans Anywhere On Stove
This stove seems to be both good news and bad news.
Siemens’ subsidiary, Thermador, revealed its Freedom Induction Cooktop at CES 2012 earlier this year. Now, Siemens will design its own full-surface induction cooktop as part of its home appliances range. The unique stove will have 48 conductors to allow pots and pans to be placed anywhere on the flat ceramic surface. There would also be a touch screen that can detect and display the size, shape, and location of each cookware.
The kitchen unit will also be more energy efficient than traditional fixed stoves as it enables a continuous and even heat distribution. Siemens showcased a demo of the cooktop at Eurocucina 2012, a kitchen design exhibit in Milan, Italy
