Three men go up to the highest man made structure in the world (Burj Khalifa, Dubai) and give us a glimpse of what it’s like. I almost had a heart attack just watching the moment where he shows us how high he is near the end of this short video.
I say he risks his life because he was rather close to these guys. But the images came out spectacular. They are so beautiful, why do they have to be so deadly?
Reminds me of my exes (lol).
Mark Laita is an advertising and fine art photographer based in Los Angeles. This work is from his project, Serpentine, of which he writes:
‘The sensual attractiveness of snakes, which coexists with their threatening, unpredictable and mysterious nature is truly unique. This dichotomy, in which their beauty seems to be heightened by their danger, and vice-versa, is what I find so fascinating. Add to these contradictions the rich symbolism of serpents and you have a wonderfully compelling subject’.
Essentially, they are ultra-realistic silicone masks that mold to your face after you put it on. Yes, that’s right, it forms right around your face so it replicates your movements!
How real is it?
Well, take a look:
That’s right, so realistic that it even fooled immigration at the airport!
People also use them to pull of pranks with (you can see some here (link)).
Unfortunately, they are so real that people also use them for bank robberies and other terrible things.
More stupid people abusing the mask.
Aside from that, it gets better. I have wanted a mask from spfxmasks for a long time for Halloween, until I recently stumbled upon an even better creator.
What’s amazing about these guys, is that they also create very special, one time release, custom masks! He takes special requests and puts them up for sale at the beginning of the month. Check out a few of their prior creations below:
They even have an option to buy gloves with the corresponding mask so you can make your own customized costume. So if you buy a pighead costume, you get authentic pig hooves, ha!
Sounds expensive, but you’re guaranteed to win a few costume contests and get your money back in one Halloween, especially when you pair up the masks and gloves with a custom outfit.
As you can clearly see, the guys at Composite Effects do some amazing work, the artistry is top notch and so is the end effect.
If you decide to ever buy one, be sure to inquire about getting it before Halloween due to the high demand I am sure they are getting. Otherwise you may not get one in time.
